Starter Herd Anyone?

I'm thinning my herd a little and am selling two wethers and one doe. All silver/grey and gorgeous. I would love to sell them together as they are "buddies". Zeke, the big guy, is a sweetie and loves to be loved. Pappy and Jasmine are sweet too, just not "in your pocket" goats. All come from award-winning stock at Kid Hollow Farm in C'ville. Exceptional fleeces. Email me with questions or if you are interested. $550 for all three....

Bath day!

Indoor goats must meet certain cleanliness standards...and apparently they love baths!!  Scotty is doing baby goat duty while I travel and he and Boone did a great job getting Pani spic and span.

Twins!

Early Friday morning Annie had twins!! This is our second year having twins, they are fairly common, however sometimes are challenging. Unfortunately, the female (Fran) was quite a bit larger than her little brother (Pani)....

His back legs were also quite weak and he wasn't able to nurse on his own. I had to force feed him his mothers milk for the first day.

After about 24 hours he was strong enough to suck from a bottle but by that time, his mom Annie didn't recognize him as her own and rejected him. So now, we have an "inside goat"....here snuggled up with this buddy Buzz....until it warms up enough to get him back into the barn.

I'll be bottle feeding him for six to eight weeks....wish me luck!

Meanwhile, his sister is doing great...I'm sure she misses her brother and I'm planning "playdates" as soon as Pani is stronger.

Meet Suva!

The first of Maravu Acres' kids is here! Meet Suva a big, beautiful red buckling! We are thrilled that he has arrived and so is mom, Carmen....she worked quite hard to get him here on Friday....and thanks for Drs. Hutchins and Sumner of Farm Vet Services for helping us ensure everyone is OK (especially me as it seems I was the one most in need of assistance). We have high hopes for this little guy. Look for his first fiber cutting in about six months.
